August 12, 2011

What is the fruit flush diet exactly? When author and clinical nutritionist, Jay Robb, wrote the Fruit Flush 3 Day Detox in 2005, he did get some people rattled while others rejoiced. The fruit flush diet has had a positive impact on a large group of people by helping them to regain their health, lose weight, and change to a healthier lifestyle. Those who are interested in living a healthier lifestyle to both cure and prevent disease; the natural, organic, plant based program such as the fruit flush diet will help to accomplish that.

Stage 1: The Fruit Flush Diet

The fruit flush diet is quite simple to follow. In the beginning stage, this diet gives the body’s system a relief from the stress of digestion. Western foods are highly processed, have large amounts of proteins like meats, dairy and eggs, and lower concentrations of veggies and fruits. This food puts a lot of stress on the digestive system. As we wean our bodies off these foods, our systems begin to get cleaned out and burn up stored fats.

Nutrient dense foods such as fruits and vegetables have high sources of amino acids, minerals and vitamins.  Eating fruit, which is also high in fiber, and drinking large amounts of water we aid our body in flushing out and dissolving the toxins that have built-up.

Stage 2: Foods Allowed on the Fruit Flush Diet

The fruit flush diet, besides its fruit namesake, also includes lean protein or protein shakes, which keep muscles stabilized; plus raw vegetables and all the fruit you want. Any dairy products, coffee/tea, soft drinks, cooked veggies, alcohol, starches or the majority of fats are not allowed.

Below a simplified version of the program is outlined.

  • Day 1: Drink protein shakes throughout the day (every 2 hrs) and at 6:00pm eat a lean protein meal with 3-6 cups raw veggies. (Maximum protein 100-125 grams)
  • Days 2 and 3:  Eat 1 serving of fresh fruit every 2 hours when slightly hungry from 8:00 am – 4pm. At 6:00 pm, evening meal includes 1 protein shake or lean protein (maximum 50 grams) and 3-6 cups raw veggies with an organic fat/oil dressing.

The three day fruit flush diet gives the body the amount of time it needs to flush out toxins, burn up fat and rid the body from anywhere between 8-9 lbs.
