Before beginning your fruit diet plan it’s important to give your body adequate preparation time. When you make the decision to begin a time of detoxing and cleansing through the fruit diet, I recommend that you prepare physically and mentally first. The week before your diet start adding freshly juiced vegetable juices to replace a meal or two. Plan on eliminating at least 2 of your normal food meals during the week before, as this already aids the body in getting rid of toxins.
Prepare and Pre-Cleanse with Juice Diet
If you haven’t invested in a juicer yet, this might be the time to do so. If you can’t afford a good quality new juicer, search eBay, perhaps you can find a reasonably priced used one. Not only is it fun to make your own fresh veggie juices with nutrient rich foods, but the fresh juice will start to prepare your digestive system by reducing its workload.
The week before your 3-day fruit diet, replace 1 or 2 of your meals with vegetable juices. A healing veggie juice combination to try is: carrots, spinach, celery, cabbage, parsley, kale, onion, garlic and ginger. Juice these ingredients, drinking a glass in the morning and another in the afternoon or evening.
Since your body will begin detoxing, it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise during this time. Keep active physically by doing mild exercise only. Get plenty of rest and sleep as your body’s energy is being used for healing and regenerating.
What to Expect During Your Fruit Diet
To understand what is happening to your body will help you more easily endure this time. You will experience unusual symptoms, but don’t worry, that’s normal; your body is getting rid of toxins. You might experience:
- dizziness and being light headed
- get headaches
- be more tired
- have body odor
- dry skin or skin eruptions
- feel irritable, confused or anxious
- get nauseous
- get diarrhea
- your body might ache
- experience insomnia
As you make it through those first three days congratulate yourself that you’ve passed through the very worst of it. You might not feel like a success; don’t be hard on yourself though, the first 3 days of any fruit cleanse diet will be the hardest. Be encouraged.
